There are anecdotal segments of the book that entertain and enlighten the reader on some of the more mysterious subjects of the fishing world. The things guides talk about, keeping fishing secrets, and how professional anglers conduct themselves are just a few of the things covered. Some of the lighter subjects include fishing with your dog, practical jokes, and guide clients that can drive you insane. This book shows some of the absurdity of the fishing world as it applies to the anglers of the Midwest, specifically, Canada, Minnesota, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

Readers will have an insight into the mind of a professional fisherman. It is fraught with ego, paranoia, secrecy, and competitiveness. It also reveals the funny, astonishing, and rewarding parts of the industry. The fishing season is a grind against Mother Nature and different anglers have different ways of dealing with the challenges of the fishing life. This book talks about all of those dynamics.
